Ben Hill, one of the alleged lynchers, was captured and lodged in jail today, and the officers are looking for nine others who have been indicted. Judge Speake, of the Curcuit Court, heard rumors of impending trouble and telegraphed to Acting Governor Cunningham, asking for militia. The troops reached here on a special train late today and pickets guard all approaches to the Jail. No trouble is anticipated so long as the Jail is guarded in this manner. Captain Brown has orders to preserve the peace of the community, even if the city be placed under martial law. He has camp equipment and is prepared for a long stay. Solicitor Peters denies the runmor that Sheriff Rogers and Mayor Smith been indicted.
