Blackwell and wife spent a day or two in our city this week. Miss Gay Blackford, of Abingdon, Va., is the guest of Miss Janie White. Mrs. Richard W. Walker, Dr. and Mrs. Greenway left to-day for New York. Miss Strange, a charming young lady from Memphis, is visiting Miss Blanche Ward. Miss Booker Mason, after spending Fair week with Miss Maggie Barclay, returned to Prospect, Tenn., Monday. Miss Susie Richardson, “divinely tall and most divinely fair,” is visiting at the residence of Maj. J. R. Stevens. Hon. Jos. Wheeler has been here several days as assistant counsel in the election cases between Wheeler and Lowe. Gov. O’Neal arrived in our City on Friday last, and left the next day. We were glad to see him in good health and resolute to discharge his duty to the people of Alabama.
