Crawford and Mrs. Crawford of Decatur are visitors to Huntsville and have the distinction of being the first to register at the new Russell Erskine Hotel which opened today. It is a very interesting point in the hotel history of Huntsville that Mr. Crawford was also the first to register at the Hotel Twickenham when that well- known and popular establishment was opened. It happened more or less like this that Mr. Crawford was the first to register at the Twickenham. He was in Huntsville at court and the case in which he was interested was not completed necessitating his staying here for the night. He communicated with Mr. Quincy B. Love and explained his trouble the hotel was not quite ready to open but Mr. Love arranged for Mr. Crawford to have a room. Mr. Crawford phoned his friends the Joe Bradleys that he was in town. Mrs. Bradley, Sr., was at the time out of the city and Mr. Bradley said that he could not let his friend stay down town alone, so the two spent the night together in the hotel which shortly afterwards was opened. Mr. Crawford was full of compliments as to the new establishment this morning. Cotton Market Middling cotton sold for sixteen and a quarter cents here today.
