Blake, a well known business man of this city, died Friday night at 9 o’clock at the family residence on West Holmes street, after an illness of several months with cancer of the stomach. Her health had been failing for about a year and during that time she had been under treatment of the best physicians here and in other cities but the efforts of all were unavailing and her condition gradually became worse until the end. Mrs. Blake was before marriage Miss Evie Copeland and she was forty years old. She is survived by her husband, mother Mrs. M. Copeland, three brothers, Thomas Copeland, and E. H. Copeland, of Huntsville and Ollie Copeland of New York, and four sisters, Mrs. Hans Shuz, Mrs. Hinds Campbell, and Mrs. Robert Sadler of Huntsville and Mrs. Joe Hester of Columbia, Tenn. There are no children. Mrs. Copeland had been a life-long member of the First Methodist church and was active in the work of that organization. She possessed a loveable, sweet character and her death carries sorrow to the hearts of a great many friends here and elsewhere. The funeral will be conducted from the Blake home at 4 o’clock this afternoon by Rev. J. R. Turner and Rev. J. J. Johnson and interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The following gentle will act as pall bearers; R. P. Weeden, R. E. Spragins, Robert Harrison, Wm. Hutchens, Thos. T. Terry, and Henry C. Pollard. Among the relatives and friends who are here to attend the funeral are Mrs. Charles Hamlet of Tuscumbia, formerly Miss Lizzie Couch; Mrs. Walter Johnson of Decatur, formerly Miss Lula Couch, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hester of Columbia, Tenn.
