CANNON – At the residence of her son, John E. Laughinghouse, January 16, 1882, 
after long and painful illness, MRS. MARTHA G. CANNON, in the 81st year of her 
age.
   Her sufferings were great, yet she bore them with patience and Christian 
fortitude, having been a devoted and consistent member of the Primitive 
Baptist Church for 50 years.  As mother and friend, and in all the relations 
of her social and religious life, she was faithful and true.  Truly, may it be 
said of her, “She was a woman of sorrows and acquainted with grief.”  Having 
buried all of her children but one, she has bid adieu to sorrow and pain, and 
crossed over to the other shore, where there is no sickness, sorrow, pain or 
death.
