Fariss died of pneumonia, at his residence in Huntsville, Ala., on Tuesday, 22, 1884 in his 74th year. Mr. Fariss was born in Amelia Co., Virginia, in June, 1810. He came to Huntsville about 1826, and associated with his brother, Dandridge Fariss, in the publication of the Southern Advocate, 12 or 14 years. Afterward, he was, first, a partner of his brother and, then of Geo. W. Neal, in the drug business, and, then, in the exchange business, in which he continued till interrupted by the war between the States. He, then, moved to his farm near the Bell Factory, whence he returned to Huntsville about a year or so ago. Last Fall, he entered the family grocerty business as senior of the firm of Fariss & ____ ____.
