Obiturary for Mrs. Gabriel Jordan -- Madison County Submitted by: Patty Brock This obiturary appeared in the Chattanooga Times Newspaper on April 10, 1904. It reads: Mrs. Gabriel Jordan Huntsville, Ala. April 9,-- Mrs. Gabriel Jordan, a former Alabama woman of great beauty, talent, and social prominence has just died in Waco, Tex. at the age of 75 years. As Miss Ellen Lewis, she was a social belle in Huntsville sixty years ago and in 1851 married Gabriel Jordan, a civil engineer of the Memphis and Charleston railroad. Col. Jordan later became general manager of the Mobile and Ohio railroad and his wife was well known in society in every town along that system. Mrs. Jordan had relatives in Huntsville.
