B. Rhett In this city on Friday, Sept. 18, 1902, of typhoid malarial fever, Mrs. Harriet Moore Rhett, beloved wife of Col. Robert Barnwell Rhett. Death came as “the jewel of the just,” to relieve the sufferings of our dear friend, and those who loved her best knew that the triumph was here, and prayed fervently “blessed be the name of the Lord,” who had taken her to Himself. Mrs. Rhett was a daughter of the late Dr. David Moore. Her first husband was Dr. Barnard, who died and left her a widow with tow lovely daughters, Misses Mattie and Katie. Both survive her and the latter is Mrs. J. W. Caldwell, of Knoxville. Her second marriage was to Col. Rhett, of Charleston, S. C., which union was blessed by a son, Harry Moore, both of whom mourn her loss. The deceased was a beautiful woman with the face of a Madonna, and a character so refined and gentle, combined with a gifted cultivated mind, that she ever attracted the admiration and affection of those who knew her. Her memory is held as the exemplification of all that is purest and best in woman. The funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon, and the lowly mound was covered with the rarest flowers, as a tribute from loving friends.
