The Huntsville Weekly Democrat, December 3, 1884
  Rev. Dr. W. D. F. Sawrie, an able zealous Soldier of the Cross in the 
Methodist Episcopal Church, South, for 53 years, died at his residence in 
Nashville, Tenn., last Thursday in his 73d year. He was the beloved Pastor of 
the Methodist Church in Huntsville over 40 years ago.
