F. PENNINGTON of Sulligent, Ala. was killed while walking near the railroad track on last Friday. He was struck on the head by a plank that protruded from the side of a car on a gravel train. Mr. PENNINGTON was a prominent merchant of Sulligent, and as formerly sheriff of Lamar County. He leaves a wife and five children. He was buried with Masonic honors on Sunday last. ALSO – Nov. 28 ACCIDENTALLY KILLED A special from Sulligent, Lamar county, tells of the killing there of S. F. PENNINGTON, the mayor, and one of the most prominent citizens of the town. Mr. PENNINGTON was walking along the track of the Kansas City, Memphis and Birmingham railroad, and seeing a train coming stepped to one side. It came up at a lively rate, and a projecting plank from a car loaded with lumber struck Mr. PENNINGTON and knocked him down. When reached by friends he was dead, having been killed almost instantly.
