March 1 at 7:45 a.m., death removed from our midst a devoted husband and father, John W. Thrower of Arab. Mr. Thrower was born in Cleburne county on June 5, 1864. He moved to Arab in 1888. He had been a member of the Primitive Baptist church since 1894. His many friends throughout Marshall and adjoining counties will be grieved to learn of his passing, for he was a good christian gentleman of the highest type and a friend to man. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Thrower; six sons, H.M., and T.L. of Arab; W.M. of Wetumpka; G.O. of Baileytown; M.O. and R.F. of Arab; three daughters, Mrs. G.C. Penn of Joppa; Mrs. H.O. White of Arab; and Mrs. J.H. Eudy of Dyess, Ark., 52 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; five brothers and five sisters. The brothers are A.B. of Heflin; G.W. and F.R. and Jim of Chulafinnee and Tom of Marshall county; sisters are Mrs. F.M. Zaner, Mrs. W. Reg Bell, Mrs. E.W. Beason of Heflin; Mrs. Walter Chapman of Jefferson county and Mrs. Loma Henry of Mississippi. The remains were interred in Rice Schoolhouse cemetery on Thursday, March 2, at 2 o'clock p.m, Revs. Bynum and Phillips officiating.
