William, Judge of Probate This certifies that I have solemnized Marriage between Rev. I.G. Gross and Mrs. Rosy A. Sheppard according to law at Guntersville, Ala. in said County and State, on the 10th day of August 1923. M.E. Willson, Minister. Additional Comments: Rev. I. G. (Isaac Gilmore Gillie" Gross) was a travelling minister, farmer, and miller by occupation. He married #1. Francis Caroline (Boggess) on 05 December 1869 and they had 8 children. Caroline died in 1916, leaving Isaac a widower. When "Rosie/Rosy" or Rosann/Roseann (Ball) Sheppard married Isaac "Gilley" Gross, she was a widow. Her first husband, Benjamin Oliver Sheppard, had died in 1915 when his spooked team of mules ran away with him, resulting in his death on a county road near Oleander, Alabama in Marshall County. The location of his death is somewhere near where the present day Water Tank Rd. & Quarry Rd. connect just below the old James Neal Griggs homeplace. Roseann Elizabeth Candace (Ball)& Benjamin Oliver Sheppard were my grt. grandparents.
