Oliver, surrendered at Citronelle, Ala, by Lieut. Gen R. Taylor, CSA to Major. Gen. ERS Canby, USA May 4, 1865 and paroled at Meridian Miss May 10, 1865. He was discharged from the Confederate Army honorably on May 10, 1865. Phillip was active and worked until about a year before he died. He was very proud of his service in the Civil war and carried his discharge in his pockets until he died.
