File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Pam Long ==================================================================== June 1999 This cemetery is located in a beautiful, wooded lot on Mordecai Drive in the Spring Hill area of Mobile, and is completely enclosed by a wrought-iron fence. An historical marker on the eastern side of the cemetery says: "SPRING HILL GRAVEYARD, established 1844 by deed to Judge of County Court of Mobile County, Administered by Spring Hill Cemetery Association. Spring Hill Garden Club. Historic Mobile Preservation Society, 1971" I surveyed this cemetery April 6, 8 and 9, 1999. Many families use a single large headstone for the family marker and smaller markers containing the individual's given name. Where there were couples sharing a double marker, I noted such in the second listing (such as the Windsors below). Otherwise, each individual had his or her own marker. Where there were family areas marked off by hedgerows or other barriers (such as the Toulmins), I set those sections off with dashes (-----).
