Mike Fincher Convicted

Mike Fincher, of Wheelerville, was tried before the city court yesterday on 
the charge of assault to ravish. The complainant was Lula Taylor, also of 
Wheelerville, who is the daughter of Calvin Taylor who was assassinated in 
Wheelerville about a month ago. Taylor was a leading witness in the case for 
the state  and it was rumored at the time that his sudden taking off was due 
to his connection with the case. Notwithstanding the absence of his testimony, 
the jury were out about five minutes, which is said to be the shortest time on 
record, and they returned a verdict of guilty as charged in the indictment.
