THE WHEELERVILLE KILLING

No Further Developments in the Case


	There were no developments in the Wheelerville murder case yesterday. 
The inquest on Taylor's body was held by Justice W. P. Roberts, of 
Wheelerville, but the verdict was not made public and up to dark last night no 
verdict had been filed with the clerk of the city court.
	Deputy Sheriff Louis Sutton, who visited the scene of the murder 
Wednesday, returned yesterday morning. The circumstances of the murder, he 
stated, were substantially as reported in this paper yesterday.  But little 
additional information was gained by his visit, and he had nothing of a 
reliable nature to add to the account already published.
	Sheriff Holcombe had no additional information on the subject, but 
announced his intention to do all in his power to discover the murderer and 
bring him to justice.
	Coroner Hirshfield knew nothing of the case except what he read of it 
in this paper.
	" Were you not summoned to hold the inquest?" asked the reporter.
	" No," replied the coroner. "I have notified all the justices in the 
county not to wait for me in such cases, but to go on and hold the inquest in 
my stead. I am not going to hold any inquest in Wheelerville. The last man who 
held an inquest there was shot at shortly afterward. I don't want to hold any 
there."
	It is proper to state that the inquest in this case was held before 
the coroner heard of the murder.
