Stokes, a native of Bayou La Batre, Ala, a former resident of Crichton, Ala., but living at Semmes, Ala., for a short period of time, died there at 6;00 o’clock Monday evening, January 3, 1944. Funeral services will be at the resident of her son, B. H. Stokes, Crichton, Ala, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be at Howell Cemetery, George County, Mississippi. She is survived by: a son, B. H. Stokes, of Crichton, Ala., 3 daughters: Mrs. Mabel Waltman, of Semmes., Ala., Mrs. Olivia Williams of Baton Rouge, La and Mrs. Vivian Seals of Dallas, TX; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and other relatives. Funeral arrangements by the Roche Mortuary. Death notice: STOKES- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Francis (Pendarvis) Lewis Stokes, who died Monday, were held from the residence of her son: B.H. Stokes, on Moffat Road, Mobile County Wednesday afternoon Jan 5, 1944 at 2:30 o’clock and at Howell Baptist Church at 3:30 o’clock with the Rev. W. H. Black of the Springhill Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Pallbearers were: Robert and Willie Tanner, Lewis and Cecil Waltman, Shad Seals, G. Allen and Eddie Padgette.
