Jacob Henry Schroebel was a shoemaker and tanner in Claiborne and was converted 
to the Baptist faith by Alexander Travis.  He was born and married in 
Charleston South Carolina before he came to Claiborne, Monroe county Alabama in 
1825.  His father is likely John Schroebel of Charleston.  Jacob came to Mobile 
Alabama in 1841 as a Baptist preacher and died in 1843 of yellow fever.  For
