My son, Nathan Johnson, and I waded through the underbrush and surveyed this cemetery on Good Friday, April 13, 2001. We returned Monday, April 16, 2001 to do some cleaning and to find even more graves. Again I returned Thursday, April 26, 2001 to do more cleaning and to gather tombstone info. It is clear that the cemetery has been vandalized at some time in the past, because all the headstones are toppled, most headstones and slabs are broken, and pieces of some of the headstones were found at least 50 feet from their proper location at the gravesite. Most of the graves have inscriptions on the slab, but some have headstone inscriptions as well. I have transcribed the tombstone data (headstone inscription followed immediately by slab inscription) using the spacing and punctuation as found there (some of the graves used elevated periods, some did not have any punctuation marks, several used long dashes). I have indicated missing words/letters with asterisks. Most of the people buried there are my ancestors: David and Ann Elizabeth Hendrix are my ggg- grandparents; Daniel James Morris is my ggg-grandfather; Martha Morelle Hendrix Roley is my g-grandmother. I would love to hear from anyone researching any of these families. Directions to the cemetery: When entering Frisco City from the southwest on Hwy. 21, turn north onto West Avenue; go about 1/4 mile and turn west at the first dirt lane; the cemetery is at the end of the lane (about 1/4 mile) on the north side. The Hendrix Cemetery is on property now owned by Mr. T. Stan Williams; he lives adjacent to the cemetery. Ken Johnson - kenjohnson1957@cs.com ··· 1.
