Directions from Monroeville: Travel south on State Highway 21 to Monroe County Rd. 8. Travel West on County Rd. 8 to the second paved road. Travel West for approximately two miles, and turn right on the first dirt road. Look immediately to your right, and you will see the cemetery. Directions from Atmore: Travel North on State Highway 21 to Uriah. Turn left onto the short road, which runs in front of the large brick store seated at the middle of town. Continue straight across the street to Monroe County Rd. 3. Travel to the end of the road and turn left onto County Rd. 8. Travel west on County Rd. 8 to the second paved road on the right. Turn here. Travel approximately two miles, and turn right on the first dirt road. Look immediately to your right, and you will see the cemetery. New Hope Cemetery has been unused since the 1930's. It rests on land once owned by a Hardshell Baptist Church. Thanks to a recent restoration project conducted by student organizations at J.U. Blacksher High School, Uriah, AL, many damaged tombstones and graves have been restored or replaced. Where the new stones were added, the original slabs still exist, but are unreadable. - Johnathan W.
