It is from the papers of Judge James Dellet of Dellet Park Plantation,Claiborne, Monroe County which now belong to me. I hope it will prove useful in helping to reconstruct the destroyed or otherwise missing records. Charles J. Torrey Burnt Corn 19th June 1826 Jas. Dellet Esqr. Sir, I understand that you have some idea of setling in this neighborhood, and that you have written to Capt. Hayes on the subject of buying his place. I take the liberty to offer my place to you. I will take less than I gave for it, and it is cleared out of the office. I have 4 quarter sections, & about 120 acres of cleared land. I will make the payments to suit you, if you will buy.
