Andress, an employee of the L & N railroad as bridgeman, was fatally shot by one Charles Howard, who fired 4 shots into his body. He was speedily removed to Century City Florida for surgical treatment where the end came on Sept 9th at 9AM. Andress and Howard had a little difference the evening before the shooting. Howard came to the boarding cars early on the morning of the 7th, apologized for the manner in which he had acted the evening before and proposing they make friends, which was done. Howard walked a little distance and sat down. When Andress & another employee of the Railroad walked to the point where they would take the Northbound local, Howard followed and just as Andress was boarding the train, Howard drew a pistol and fired 4 shots.
