Welch, a teamster for the J.M. Wiggins Mill Company was struck by lightening and instantly killed during a thunderstorm at Claibourne on Wednesday afternoon of last week. Mr.Welch was engaged in unhitching his team in order to take refuge from the storm when the bolt struck him.
