The Monroe Journal July 14, 1927
David Mosley, the 17 yr old son of Mr. Lon Mosley shot and killed himself near 
Excel shortly after noon Monday. Taking his gun he stated to his mother that 
he wanted to shoot a hawk. Shortly after leaving the house noise of the 
discharge was heard.  Failing to return within a reasonable time the mother 
went to investigate and found the dead body of her son. Circumstances indicate 
the possibility of suicide, though the tragedy may have been accidental.  No 
reason is known that might have induced the young man to deliberately take his 
own life.
