Was born in Flat Rock, Alabama 04/18/1822. He was known as "Uncle Jack". In the Monroe Journal dated 11/24/1927, his obituary reads: Mr J G Booker a well known citizen of North Monroe, died at his home near Pine Apple on Saturday November 12, 1927 at the ripe old age of more than 100 years. Mr Booker was a life long resident of the county and was held in high esteem amoung a large circle of friends and acquaintances. Up to a short time prior to his death he exhibited remarkable physical and mental vigor. The funeral was held on Sunday. He served faithfully as a soldier in the Confederate army throughout the war. A very stricking thing about his service in the war is that he and one of his sons enlisted at the same time and both served through the war. He was a native of Conecuh county having been born near Skinnerton. Rev. Joe Melton resided his services at Awin Cemetery. Mr. J. G. Booker was my great, great, Grandfather. At this time, we have no idea who his parents were, who his sibling were. If anyone can contribute, please contact me: ljw51@grnco.net. Thank you, Laura Booker-Watson Additional Comments: We have been told, that he had a sister names Sara Elizabeth, for which he names one of his daughters. Maybe they were adopted, loaned out, we have no idea who his parents or siblings are. We would love to be able to know if anyone can add any additional information, we would greatly appreciate it. So many of his descendants would love to know more. Please contact me at ljw51@grnco.net, if you care to share further information or comments. Thank you.
