She was born at Perdue Hill, Ala., March 24, 1879 and died near Buena Vista, Ala., June 22, 1903. In early life she gave herself to God and united with Pine Grove Methodist church. In May 1900 she joined Oak Grove Baptist church where her membership has since remained. She was married to Mr. J. D. Forte Oct. 23, 1900. She was a kind and loving wife, a tender and affectionate mother. She was modest and kind to everybody. Though she suffered many months previous to her death, yet she bore it all patiently, saying, "I will never get relief until Jesus takes me away." A few hours before the death angel came to bear her soul away, she kissed her husband and two babies good-bye, saying, "God bless you all; Papa, don’t grieve after me, remember my darling babies; I am going to sleep in Jesus; meet me in heaven; I don’t want any of my people to grieve after me." The dear little one who called "mamma" at the grave and the other dear little one who had not learned to lisp that name, can never realize what it is to have a mother. She leaves a mother, brothers and sisters, a devoted husband and two little children to mourn her loss. May god bless them all. She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Concord Baptist church Buena Vista, Ala., June 23, 1903. The grave was strewn with flowers. T. L. F.
