HENDRIX, Lemuel Austin      Born  Apr. 29, 1839      Died  April 28, 1911
     Born near Monroeville, Ala.    Age 72 years
     (On another side of his headstone is engraved the following)
     Enlisted in Confederate Army as a Private in Co. E. 23rd Reg. Ala.
     Vols. Aug. 1861 at C(am)den, Ala. Mustered into service at Montgomery,
     Ala. Oct. 8, 1861. Honorably discharged June 19, 1865 at Camp 
     Douglas, Chicago, Ill.
