Bayne ==================================================================== December 2002 SAMUEL POOL BAYNE BORN: 15 Aug 1822 Clinton, Jones Co. Ga DIED : 29 Aug 1879 Montgomery,Montg. Co. Ala. NOTES: 1: I have been to the grave of my great grandfather and the vacant plot that I'm sure that my great grandmother is burried. I've seen the head stone of their beloved children that Death , their Life, had cut so short. I've stood on the spot in the trenches of Victsburg where he stood in the defence of that Southern city so many years ago.The home that was Samuel's and Adeline's sill stands. I was taken to it first in 1964 by Fulton Frazer, whoes grand mother was Julia Ann Bayne the second oldest child of Samuel and Adeline Bayne. 2: As always it must be remembered that in listing the children of a family that those that live are known and remembered there may be a number that died as a baby that are not noted. So all listing of children at best is not perfect, and to the best knowledge of the recorder. 3: Samuel was a brick mason by trade and training as was four of his brothers noted in the the 1850 census of Mary Bayne, his mother, in Chambers Co. Ala. page # 361 dated 2nd December 1850. 4: I have a tinted photo of Samuel Pool Bayne and his wife Hetta Adeline Day. He has the typical blue eyes of the Bayne family where his wife is very dark complected. Her looks gives credience that there was Indian blood in the family. The Day family came out of Tennessee. My father's older sister was named Adeline and was very dark complected as her grand- mother. My aunt Adeline, was somewhat of a scandle, was it is said to have been married twenty-seven ( 27 ) times. 5: Physical discription of S.P.B. from enlistment date 30 Jul 1862, age - 41 heigh - 5 ft 10 in., complexion - fair, eyes - blue , hair - dark. Samuel Pool Bayne was the fourth child, and third son,of the marriage of William F. Bayne and Mary Pool. Samuel had ten other brothers and sisters that are known.
