Blacknall and J. S. Carr both of the county of Durham of the State of NC the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge do hereby bargain sell and convey unto the said James R. Blacknall and J. S. Carr their heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in said County of Durham. (Formerly Orange County and bounded as follows: - On the east by lands belonging to Simpson Browning: On the west by lands belonging John A. Cole and on the South by land belonging to James Brockwell the same being a part of the of the tract of land that formerly belonged to Moses Guess, now Deceased. Being forty acres more or less and the same being the land conveyed by W. W. Guess to the said James L Copley on the third day of November 1865. To have and to hold unto the said James R. Black nall and J. S. Carr their heirs and assigns forever, and we the said James L. Copley and his wife Cora Copley hereby covenant with the said James R. Blacknall and J. S. Carr their heirs and assigns that we are lawfully seized in fee of the aforesaid premises - that they are free from all incumbrance and that we will forever warrant and defend said premices to the said James R. Blacknall and J.S. Carr their heirs and asigns. In Testamony whereof we the said James L Copley and his wife Cora Copley have hereunto set our hands and affixted our seals this the 19th day of June A D 1883 signed sealed and deliver James L Copley (seal) ed in the presence of Cora Copley (seal) Jno. Fuller The State of Alabama ) Montgomery County ) Before me Francis C Randolph Judge of Probate in and for said county and state this day personaly appeared James L Copley and Cora Copley his wife parties named in the foregoing deed of conveyance: and the said deed being also produced and exibited to me, the said James L. Copley and Cora his wife acknowledged the execution thereof as there act and deed for the purposes therein expressed and the said Cora Copley being by me privately examined seperate and apart from her said husband touching her voluntary execution of the same doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, and without fear or compulsion or restraint from her said husband or any other person whatever and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixted my seal of office this 19th of June 1883.
