Pen Women To Hold State Convention At Birmingham Hotel The state convention of the Alabama branch off the Nation la League of American Pen Women will be held in Birmingham at the Thomas Jefferson Hotel Thursday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 pm. Liliamay Smith, Birmingham, newly elected state president; Genevieve B. Airey, Wetumpka, retiring state president Bess Stout Lambert, new president of the Birmingham branch; Florence wood Moss, retiring president of the Birmingham branch; and Anne Kendrick Walker, recently elected president of the Selma-Montgomery branch, will be honor guests. Mrs. Moss, hostess for the convention, will welcome the Pen Women and will welcome the Pen Women and will present the new president, Mrs. Lambert. Mrs. Airey, who has served as Alabama president for the past two years, will present the Gavel to Miss Smith, incoming president. Mrs. will present the past state president: Marie BankHead Owen, novelist and Historian, and director of the State Department of Archives and History, who was chosen " The Woman of the Year," Mrs. Nellie K. Murdock, widely known lecture; Willie Hughes Tarpley, who recently received the National League reward for the best feature on "Making a Lasting World Peace;" Mittie Owen McDavis who also won the National League award for best non-fiction book of the year; Lelia Fearn Lusk of Guntersville, widely well-known feature and editorial writer and prominent clubwoman. Alabama Pen Women are requested to send their reservation to Mrs. Bessie Webb Jaynes at the Thomas Jefferson Hotel in Birmingham for the Luncheon.
