June 6. Fred Arn, of Mobile, will serve the Spanish War Veterans of Alabama as commander for the coming year. He succeeds Augustus Mackey, of Birmingham. Elected yesterday, along with Arn, as the Alabama department closed its two-day 222nd annual encampment here were George W. Floyd, Alabama City, senior vice commander. Commander Arn appointed George Flourney, of Mobile, adjutant, and W.J. Koral, of the same city Quartermaster. Meeting at the same time in their 15th annual convention, the department's ladies auxiliary picked Mrs. Jessie Thompson, of Mobile, as president; Mrs. Lennie Mae Brobston, of Bessemer, as senior vice president, and Mrs. Myrtle Watkins, of Mobile, as junior vice president. Montgomery was chosen as the 1945 convention city.
