Moore of 65 Sayre Street died at a local infirmary Saturday afternoon at 4:30 O'clock from Injuries received when an automobile following a collision with another machine dashed over The sidewalk and crushed him against a stonewall. The accident occurred at 1:30 o'clock on the Northeast corner of Sayre and Mildred Streets. Mr. Moore was walking along the sidewalk on his way home to dinner. A Chalmers belonging to the Abraham Brothers Automobile Company and driven by a Negro was the car that pinned him to the wall and inflicted the injuries that led to his death. The car driven by the Negro was coming north on Sayre Street. As it reached Mildred a smaller car, driven by E.W. Gay Jr. turned into Sayre. The two collided. The smaller car was turned completely around by the impact and the larger car swerved from its course and dashed over the Curbing. Mr. Moore was struck from the side. Crushed against Wall. The front spring of the car was driven through his thigh and the car dashed on, crumbling the stonewall and crushing the injured man in the debris. Twenty or thirty people rushed to the scene. The car was backed off the injured man still pinned by the spring. The machine had to be backed clear of the wreckage before he could be removed. He was taken in the ambulance to a local infirmary where surgeons made every attempt to save his life. The leg, which was penetrated by the spring of the automobile, was amputated, but efforts To save his life failed. Negro is Found When the police arrived at the scene of the accident Louis Bentley, the Negro driver of the car, was not there. Witness stated that he left in another machine. He was located by Motor officer King and Williamson a few minutes later and was locked in the city jail. A charge of murder was entered against him after the death of Mr. Moore. A case of collision was docked against E.W. Gay Jr., driver of the car that collided with the car driven by the Negro. He was released on bond. J.H.Moore was a collector for the Singer Sewing Machine Company.
