Meigs road, know as the White House, or Ashurst Place, is offered for sale. There are twelve hundred and eighty acres in the tract, between four hundred and forty and five hundred acres cleared, the residue well timbered. There is a good Dwelling House and a good Gin House with cast running gear, and screw on the place, and the outhouse in tolerable repair. The quality and productiveness of this plantation are well established. It is conceded to be one of the very best, if not the very best, in the county. All person desirous of purchasing will address the undersigned, or Messer. Elmore and Yancey, Montgomery, Ala. The plantation, if not sold by the first of January next, will be for rent. Additional Comments: Physick Rush Elmore (b. 27 Feb 1819 in Autauga Co., AL) and John Archer Elmore, Jr.(sons of John Archer Elmore, whom Elmore County was named after) worked with William L. Yancey, the famous fireater. Physick Rush Elmore was appointed Justice of the Kansas Territory Supreme Court, 1854-58. He died in Topeka, KS on 14 Aug 1864. John Archer Elmore, Jr. served in the Alabama State Legisture. He was born 1 Apr 1808 in Laurens District, SC and died 1 Aug 1878 in his home in Montgomery, AL.
