ELSBERRY and family are requested to attend his funeral services this evening at 3 o'clock, from St. John's Episcopal Church. January 4, 1881: The death of Dr. James H. ELSBERRY marks the departure of another of the old and highly esteemed citizens of Montgomery. He was born and reared in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, but moved to Montgomery when he was yet in the strength of early manhood. Shortly after his removal to Montgomery, he became a member of the medical profession, having graduated at one of the celebrated schools of medicine in Philadelphia… He died last Saturday, after a brief illness, his disease being meningitis… (Lengthy article on career)
