Jones, was ground to death in a street accident this morning at 8:15 o’clock. Governor Jones was a helpless witness to the distressing accident. Miss Caroline had left her father on the veranda of their home, corner of Hull and Adams streets, saying, “Wait, I am going to get you a flower,” and started across Hull street to a neighbor’s house. In crossing the car track she was struck by a Cloverdale car and dragged under the wheels. The motorman lost his head and forgot to turn off the current. The body was dragged 100 yards and was fearfully mangled. The young lady was 23 years of age and was an invalid, and had been under the constant watch of an attendant.
