They were married by G. W. Jeter, MG. Lacy was a daughter of Jesse & Lucy Bozeman who came from Darlington, South Carolina to Hope Hill, Alabama in the 1820s. Lacy and some of her children died during an epidemic and are buried on their old property now owned by Newell, in a small cemetery that needs attention. Tombstones in the Stokes-Carter Cemetery in Montgomery County include those for Lacy Jane, Thomas Randolph and some of their children: 1. Thos R. Carter, born Dec 25, 1820, died June 29, 1892 2. Lacy J.. wife of Thomas R. Carter, born Dec 6, 1827 died March 27, 1860 3. An infant son born and died August 29th, 1854 4. Mildred, a daughter who died in July 19, 1859 (could only read birth date as Aug 22, 18?? Thomas Randolph Carter was a son of John Wise Carter who settled in Talladega. He was a grandson of Captain John Carter who fought in the Revolutionary War. The 1850 US Census, Montgomery County, First District, Page 111 A, Family #681, lines 32-34 shows Thomas R. Carter, age 27, Lucy (Lacy) J., age 22, and William H., age 6/12, all born in Alabama. After Lacy's death (March 27, 1860), Thomas married Mary Josephine Hereford. The 1870 US Census, Montgomery County, Second District, Family #10, lines 1-6 shows Thomas R Carter, age 47, with second wife, Mary J., age 27, born in Virginia, son William H., age 20, daughter Lucy A, age 14, son B. M., age 14, and daughter Sallie, age 5 (hard to read). 0 Thomas and Lacy's only surviving daughter, Lucy, married William David Calloway. Thomas and Lacy's son, William H., apparently remained single and can be found in the 1900 US Census, Montgomery County, Alabama,, Precinct 10, page 45B, family #173, lines 87-93, living with his sister, Lucy, and her husband, W. D. Calloway. William was working for the railroad, as was his nephew, Clifford Calloway. What happened to their brother, B. M. Carter (from the 1870 census) is not known at this time.
