Hearn ) Montgomery, November 25, 1822 to ) To the Clerk of the County Frances Powell ) This is to verify that I give my concent to the marriage of my daughter with Mr. Thomas Hearn (G.T.C. Hearne). Thomas Powell The State of Alabama } Know all men Montgomery County } by these presents that we, George Thomas C. Hearn and Willis Smith are held and firmly bound unto his excellency Isreal Pickens, Govenor of this State, and his successors, in office, in the penal sum of two hundred dollars for the payment of which will and truly be made we bind ourselves and each and every of our heirs executors or administrators jointly and severely firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated the 20th day of November A.D. 1822. The condition of the above obligation is such that if there be no lawful cause why George T. C. Hearn and Miss Frances Powell should not be joined together in the holy union of Matrimony then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
