I, David Roach, do solemly swear that Sarah Pattersonis over the age of eighteen years so help me God.
30th October 1822

Know all men by these presents that we William Hearn and David Roach are held 
and firmly bound unto his excellency Israel Pickens, Governor of the state and his 
successors in office, in the penal sum of two hundred dollars for the payment of 
which will and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each every of our heirs, executors 
or administrators jointly and severely firmly by their presents ruled with our seals 
and dated the 30 day of October A.D., 1822

The condition of the above obligation is such that if there be no lawful cause why 
William Hearn and Sarah Pattersson should not be joined together in the holy union 
of matrimony then this obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

To any ordained Minister of the Gospel, any Judge of the Circuit or County Court or 
Justice of the Peace for said County, Greetings.  You are authorized to celebrate 
the rites of matrimony between William Hearn and Sarah Patterson and this shall 
be your sufficient authority for so doing.  Given under my hand and seal the 30th day 
of October A.D. 1822 and 47 years of American Independence.
