Richard, and his sister Ann Hickson Bostwick, wife of Henry H. Bostwick, were named in John Hickson's will. Richard was married to Sarah Strong Hickson McMurry, widow of John McMurry and sister of Henry H. Bostwick. Richard & Sarah Hickson came to Alabama with her brother sometime in the late 1810s or early 1820s. Notes added by Carolyn Golowka Will of Richard Sessions Hickson Montgomery County, Alabama Will Book Vol. 2, pages 59 - 60 Alabama } Montgomery County } In the Name of God, Amen. I, Richard S. Hickson, of the State & County aforesaid being weak in body but of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament in manner and form following, to wit: 1st I give my Soul to Almighty God who gave it to me and my body to the dust from whence it came, to be interred in a Christian like manner. 2nd It is my will and desire that all my just debts be paid together with my funeral expenses. 3rd After my just debts are paid it is my will and desire that the residual of my estate be kept together for the maintenance and support of my family until the death or intermarriage of my beloved wife, Sarah S. Hickson. 4th I give and bequeath to my wife, Sarah S. Hickson, one third part of my estate to dispose of as she thinks proper at her decease. 5th At the death or intermarriage of my wife, it is my will and desire that guardians be appointed for my children, James Harvey Hickson and Eliza Elmira Hichkon, and my estate, excepting the one third part given to my wife as aforesaid, be equally divided between them. 6th And lastly I do nominate and appoint my brother, James Hickson, and my friend William B. Haralson, Executors and my beloved wife Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. Hickson execute the foregoing instrument of writing as his last will and Testament that the said Testator was at the time of signing the same of a sound and disposing mind, that John Sessions and William Manning subscribed their names as witnesses together with the deponent in the presence of each other and in the presence of the said Testator and at his request.
