D. Collins of Lauderdale County and state of Alabama of the first part & John Harris of Morgan County and state aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the sd L. D. Collins for and in consideration of the sum of forty dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Harris the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said John Harris and his heirs assigns forever a certain lot or parcel of land known in the plan of the town of Somerville in the county of Morgan and state aforesaid and is lot number one hundred and twelve and lying within the limits of said town containing one half acre of land and is now in the plan of sd town of Somerville by the name of number one hundred and twelve together with all and singular hereditaments and appertiments thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining & the reversier and reversiers remainder and remaindee rents peres??? and profits thereof and also all of the estate right and title interest claim & demand whatsoever of him the said L.D. Collins either in law or equity of in & to the above bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said John Harris his heirs & assigns to the sole and only proper use benefit behoof of the said John Harris his heirs & assigns forever. Collins aka Louis/Lewis D. Collins. his wife was Cynthia Black. they are my great, great, great grandparents. in 1837 Lewis bought land in Palestine, Texas, and his family and descendants have remained there nearly to this day, with a few exceptions being scattered north and west.
