W. Black was born in Jefferson County, Alabama in 1879; her parents we Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McDonald...she joined the Methodist Church...On Dec. 23, 1901, she was united in holy wedlock to Mr. W. W. Black....who was licensed to preach in Austinville, Alabama in 1913...Brother Black was admitted on trial in the North Alabama Conference at Ensley in 1923 and he was ordained a deacon in Huntsville, Alabama on November 4, 1937, and Elder at Tuscumbia November 3, 1937, Mrs. Black was still at his side. Mrs. Black resided in Hartselle., Alabama, from November 3, 1937 to September 1938 when Brother Black expired his life. On December 23, 1944, Mrs. Black was united in marriage to James W. Higdon...Mr. Higdon died December 6, 1950. Mrs Higdon lived in Decatur as long as her health would permit...she was forced to live with her daughter, Mrs. G. A. Lawrence, of Route 4, Hartselle, Alabama in 1958, where she lived until her death May 26, 1961.... Additional Comments: This was a long obituary written by the Central Methodist Church, and contained a lot of information about W. W. Black's ministry. I indicated sentences left out by three...
