DAVID CARLTON AND "ZILLIE"(DENDY)MADDOX--Undated

These undated photos show David Carlton Maddox, and his wife, Zillie(Dendy)
Maddox. David was born August 28, 1878 in Butts Co. GA. He was the first child 
of Thurmon Beamon and Martha Jane(Evans)Maddox who married there in Dec. 1877. 
Shortly after the 1880 census was taken, his parents migrated to Marshall Co. 
AL. The 1900 Marshall Co. census listed his father, step-mother, and siblings 
in the 12th precinct, Oleander. David Maddox(age- 22)was shown as a "servant" 
in the household of Ira B. Luther in Albertville. Izillida(?)Dendy, age-15, was 
listed with her parents, James and Margaret Dendy, in Albertville.[a later 
census indicated Zillie's middle initial as "P"]. 

David and "Zillie" likely married in Albertville c. 1904. On the 1910 census 
the couple was listed in Oleander-12th precinct, with their son, Audie L.-age 
3. They perhaps resided in his father's former home, as Beamon Maddox(twice 
widowed)had returned to ButtS Co. GA. On the 1920 census, David and Zillie were 
found in adjacent Morgan Co. in the Lawrence Cove precinct, with son Audy L.-13 
and daughter Pearl-9(?). In 1930 the family is shown in the 17th precinct of 
Morgan Co.-near Eva, along the Cullman Co. line, with son Beamon-age 9.

Additional Comments:

The origin of these photos is unknown. Mrs. Betty D. Gudat, San Antonio, TX, 
who funished many photos on the Maddox family, received these captioned prints 
from a John Carter, whose Email address is no longer operative!
