    GEORGE M. CORCORAN, M.D., Physician and Surgeon, Uniontown, was born March
31, 1866, at Black Rock, Baltimore County, Md., and is a son of Christopher and
Cynthia (F.) Corcoran, an old and respectable Maryland family. His father is a
farmer in that State at this writing (1888).

    The subject of this sketch attended the common schools until he was sixteen
years old; took private instructions two years, and began the study of medicine
at the University of Maryland (Baltimore). During two years of his course he had
the advantage of an hospital experience equivalent to actual professional life
to such as are inclined to use it and there is no doubt of its application in
this manner by young Corcoran. He graduated March 22, 1887, with the degree of M.D.

    Dr. Corcoran, shortly after his graduation, came to Uniontown, and entered
upon the practice of his profession, and from the beginning has met with signal
success. As a skillful practitioner and polished gentleman he is held in high
esteem.

    The Doctor is a member of the Perry County Medical Society, and the Alabama
State Medical Society, and of the American Legion of Honor, of which latter he
is the Examining Officer. He is also a member and vestryman of the Protestant
Episcopal Church.
