It is therefore ordered that the Sheriff of Perry County summons five current (?) freeholders of this county connected with the parties neither by consanguinity or affinity who upon oaths this said sheriff is hereby authorized to administer allot and set off by metes and bounds one third part of said lands to said widow according to quality and quantity including the dwelling and make a _____ thereof. Minutes Orphan Court C, Perry Co., AL, 1838-1843 Page 535 The State of Alabama, Perry County Pursuant to an order to us directed to allot to Barbara Eubanks, widow of William Eubanks, deceased, her dower out of the following real Estate of which her said husband died seized to whit the East half of the North West ¼ of section 28, township 19, range 8, containing seventy-nine 94/100 acres; also the East half of the NE ¼ section 28 township 19, range 8 containing seventy-nine 94/100 acres; W1/2 (of the) NE1/4 section 28, township 19, range 8, lying in the County of Perry and the State of Alabama to be divided according to quantity and quality including the dwelling in the dower. Thus (?) the following commissioners J. H. Watson, Jacob Kynard, N. Welsh, E Price, and M. Oliver met and after being duly qualified proceeded to review the land and allotted to Barbara Eubanks, widow of William Eubanks, the following parcel of land beginning at the stake near two fences (?) on the section line between section 28 and 27, 14 chains, l6 links south of the NE corner of section 28 and runs west 60 chains to a stake near a beech and a popular, thence south eleven chains, 67 links to a stake near a holly and hickory, thence east 60 chains to a stake near two white oaks (continued on page 536) Page 536 and the section line above mentioned, thence north to the beginning, containing seventy acres. The couple arrived in Perry Co., AL, by July of 1829. Their descendants married into the Price, Suttles, Harbour, Massey, Kennington, and Holley families which were in Perry Co., AL, in the mid 1800s. Some of these families eventually moved to Kemper Co., AL.
