Wednesday at his residence following a sudden illness. A retired carpenter, Mr. Hughes was born in Perry County and lived in Selma for the past 45 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Ann Hughes; two sons, Robert Edward Hughes of Bakersfield, Ca., and William Smith Hughes of Valparaiso, Fl., four daughters; Mrs. Mary Alice Bates, Mrs. Bessie May Pounds, and Mrs. Elizabeth Victorie Moore of Selma, and Mrs. Grace Corine Moseley of Ms. Funeral plans will be announced by Breslin Service Funeral Home. Additional Comments: William W. Hughes was the son of Casper "Smith" Hughes and Mary C. Ham, the grandson of Casper Smith Hughes and Sarah Logan, also the grandson of William J. Ham and Eliza Morton of Perry Co., Al. Mr. Hughes was born in 1880 in Sprott, Perry Co., Alabama.
