DEATH OF MRS.MARGARET MORTON

Friday morning at 11:00 o'clock the death angel vistied the home of Mr. and 
Mrs. M W. Nichols (Lucy Jane "Jenny" Morton and Wash Nichols) and took away 
their beloved mother, Mrs. Margaret Morton.

She was 84 years of age, her husband ( Jeremiah Franklin Morton) had been at 
rest 13 long years. 

She had been in ill health for several months and her death was not 
unexpected. All the physicians and loving hands could do was done to restore 
her health, but God saw fit to take her home to rest.


She was a member of Ephesus Church, where she lived up to her duties and 
served her God. 

She leaves to mourn her death five daughters and two sons; 55 grand children, 
44 great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild.

She always had a smile and a good word for all.

It is hard for dear friends to give up a grandmother who has been so good, 
kind and true, but we have to submit to the Lord's will. He only puts us here 
to stay till he sees a need to call us home one by one. All that we can do is 
to prepare to meet her in yonder skies. She said she was willing and ready to 
meet death, then said she would have no pain and troubles.

Rev. John T. Martin conducted the funeral services at the home Saturday 
morning. The remains were interred in the family cemetery. Her chair is 
vacant, the voice we loved is still. God has recalled the life he'd given and 
while the body slumbers here, the soul is safe in Heaven.

My notes: Margaret Stewart Morton was the daughter of Andrew J. Stewart and 
Mary Johnson, granddaughter of Jehu Stewart and Rosanna Stewart. She and 
Jeremiah F Morton had the following children: Mary Winnie Morton Dunkin, 
Martha Susan Morton Nichols, Lucy Jane "Jenny" Morton Nichols, Elizabeth 
Caroline Morton Johnson, Willie Frances Morton, Jehu Morton, John Morton, and 
Alice Morton,.
