Tucker News was received here last week of the death of Mr. George F. Tucker who died at the home of his son, S. Horut Tucker, at Havana, Alabama last Thursday night, after a period of bad health extending over several years. Mr. Tucker was reared in Perry County, and spent all of his life near Heiberger except the last few years at Moundville. He was a member of a very large and influential North Perry family. He was a man of unusual intelligence and high principles, and during his residence in this county was one of the best citizens. He was active in all public matters, and was both progressive in his ideas and active in furthering any cause that was for the social, moral and business uplift of his community. He was a devout Christian and had been a devoted member of the Sardis Baptist Church since it was built largely through his efforts a number of years ago. Mr. Tucker was 64 years of age. He is survived by a number of brothers, sisters and other relatives. He also leaves seven children, who are Mrs. P.L. Tubbs, Heiberger, Mrs. Prude Perry, of Heard's Beat, Mrs. Ludie Tidmore, of Havana, Mrs. Janie Tucker, of Havana,and Messer R.A. Tucker, of Heiberger, and Foster and Krout Tucker of Havana. The Funeral services and interment will be at Sardis Church and adjoining cemetery.
