I.  About the Bible
*	Publication date: 1841
*	Publisher and edition: H. & E. Phinney's Stereotype Edition (Cooperstown, 
N.Y.)
*	Owner: John Michael Rediker, Birmingham, Alabama
*	Owner’s relationship to Didlake Family:  James Didlake (b 1816, d 1863 in 
Perry County, AL), oldest entry in the bible, is Owner’s 2nd Great 
Grandfather. 
*	Last prior owner, from whom current Owner received the Bible, is Owner’s 
grandmother, Lillian Roden Bowron (b. 15 Nov1879 in Birmingham, d. 2 
Nov 1970 in Birmingham). Lillian’s mother, listed in this Bible, was Ella 
Lee Didlake (b. 1850 at Marion, AL, d. 1919 in Birmingham), and her 
grandfather, listed in this Bible, was James Didlake (b. 1816 in Perry 
County, AL, d. 1863 in Perry County AL).
*	As shown in an internal reference below, the probable first owner of this 
1841 Bible was the current Owner’s second great grandmother, Dorcas 
Cunningham Dorroh Didlake (i.e., wife of James Didlake), who was born 22 
Jul 1824 and married 24 Nov 1842, i.e., the year following publication of 
this Bible by H & E Phinney. This Didlake Family Bible has been in 
continuous possession of the family, down to my Grandmother (Lillian 
Roden Bowron, supra), then to me (with consent of my Mother) since it was 
purchased in or about 1842 and has continuously resided in Alabama (even 
through the Civil War). 
*	In the first of the "Family Record" pages for "Births":
      James Didlake was born April 5th 1816 
      Dorcas C. Didlake was born July 22, 1824 
?	[Owner note: this entry uses Dorcas' married name; her maiden 
name was Dorcas Cunningham Dorroh] 
      Sarah Jane Didlake was born the 1st of July 1844 
      Samuel D. Didlake was born on the 4 day of May 1846 
      John James Didlake was born on the 17of Feb 1848 
      Ella Lee [Didlake] was born on the 29 January 1850 
      Bobbie Gilliam was born on Nov 11, 1861 
      Jane Dorroh was born 29th of Jan 1801 
?	[Owner note: this entry uses her married name; her maiden 
name was Jane Cunningham] 
      Wm Bradley [Didlake] was born on the 5 day April 1852 
      Willey Didlake was born on the 12th day of March 1856 
      James Neeley Didlake was born on the 19th April 1854 
      Robt Didlake was born on 3 day Jan 1859 
      Viola Harrison Roden was born on the 29th of February 1875 
      Eugene Nance was born on the 27th of February 1875 
      Flossie Roden was born on the 8th of May 1876 
      Andrew Nance was born on the 6th of Nov 1876
