All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Carolyn Golowka http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00012.html#0002972 December 31, 2014, 3:42 pm Source: Perry County Will Book B, Pages 1-2 Written: October 2, 1855 The State of Alabama Perry County Know all men by these presents that I Kesiah [sic] Massey of the County and State aforementioned being of sound mind and memory do make & declare this my last will testament in the words and figures following 1st It is my will & desire that my body be buried in a decent & christian [sic] like manner and that a suitable monument be erected to my memory the cut as well as the quality of the same to be determined by my executor hereinafter named 2nd It is my will and desire that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be first paid by executor 3rd I give to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Horton my negro woman Nelly & my buggy & horse 4th I give all the balance of my property which may be left after the payment of my debts &c to my other children to be equally divided between them Lastly I constitute and appoint George P. Massey executor of this my last will & testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 2nd day of October A.D. 1855. Massey his Samuel X Johnson Mark The State of Alabama Perry County In Probate Court of Said County In the matter of the Probate of the last will & testament of Kesiah Massey dec’d James Reed being called & sworn deposes & says on oath That the paper propounded as the last will of decedent was signed in her presence by Geo P. Massey at the request of decedent and in his presence; that witness attests said paper at the instance & request of decedent and in the presence of Sam Johnson the other subscribing witness to said paper that such other witness attests said paper in the presence of testatrix & affiant all on the day the paper bears date that testatrix at the time of executing said paper as her last will & testament was of sound mind and capable of transacting business in an intelligible manner; that said paper was read over to decedent and she assented to the _____ as containing her last will & testament; that testatrix was at the time of executing said will was a resident of Perry County over the ____ of eighteen years.
