I therefore make this my last will and testament. To wit - I will and bequeath to my dear wife Elizabeth Smith the following property. First one negro woman named Vilet - one named (?) and a negro boy George _ I also will and bequeath to her one half of my horses, one half of my cows, and hogs and I do further will and desire that the remainder of my personal property together with my real Estate, shall be sold at public auction and the proceeds thereof be equally divided among my children and the Executor of this my last will and testament shall retain a sufficiency of the proceeds arising from the sale of the land to purchase a small tract of land for my wife _ I do also will that at the death of my wife the property herein will to her shall descend to our children and be equally divided among them _ I do further will that whatever portion of the proceeds of my property shall fall to the lots of my son Elijah Smith and my daughter Mrs. Prudence Moore, shall be taken charge of by my son James Smith and by him be held in trust for the said Elijah Smith and the said Prudence Moore and the heirs of her body. I do also hereby constitute and appoint my sons James Smith and Sanderson Smith the Executors of this my last will and testament _ This 25th June 1839 In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my name. his M.
